Located a few kilometers from our pleasant Bed and Breakfast labeled « 4 Epis Gîtes de France » in Burgundy. The basilica of Ste-Marie-Madeleine a UNESCO World Heritage Site is a « must ».

In the 12th century Bernard of Clairvaux preached the Second Crusade in Vezelay. The village harbored the relics of Mary-Magdalena and became a major spiritual centre on the Santiago of Compostella pilgrim way.

Fontenay Abbey was founded in 1118 by Saint Bernard in a marshy valley near Montbard. Originally a dependant of Clairvaux Abbey, Fontenay flourished up to the 16th century.
